Overview

I am a Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapy Supervisor based in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. I use Solution Focused Hypnotherapy to help my clients overcome a range of issues and offer a professional and caring approach to my practice. I attend frequent supervision sessions, courses and workshops to keep up to date and increase my knowledge base. I am also a former Senior Lecturer for Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training, Bournemouth, teaching the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD).

I have become one of the first in the country to achieve a new national standard of excellence for my therapy, having been registered by the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the UK regulator for complementary healthcare.

This recognition places me at the forefront of a national drive to provide a benchmark for standards and safety for the public. Practitioners registered with the CNHC meet national occupational standards and abide by a rigorous code of conduct, performance and ethics.

I trained for two years with Chrysalis, gaining Diplomas in Hypnotherapy and Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have continued my professional development through The Clifton Practice in Bristol, one of the foremost Hypnotherapy training centres in the UK and a recognised centre of Hypnotherapy excellence, gaining Diplomas in Solution Focused Brief Therapy Skills and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Skills. I have attended various seminars including Self-Hypnosis for Childbirth and The Impact of Hypnosis on Pain and Disease.

I have gained the Accredited Level 5 Hypnotherapy Supervisor Qualification and offer help and support to other Hypnotherapists through my knowledge and experience, further promoting Hypnotherapy and its many benefits.

I am fully insured and a member of the NCH, the National Hypnotherapy Society, and the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH). I am also a member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

Fees

I offer an initial consultation lasting an hour and a half, which serves a number of purposes: it gives you the opportunity to explain why you are seeking help, and enables me to assess whether hypnotherapy can help. It allows us to build rapport and to decide whether we would like to work together.

After taking some basic details and asking about your issue, I explain the workings of the brain with regards to your particular situation and how, if our subconscious mind perceives a threat to our wellbeing, it can have an unhelpful effect on our thoughts and behaviours; most people find this explanation enlightening.

I explain the process of hypnosis, which is a much more ordinary experience than many people believe. We will agree an approximate number of sessions, but to give you some idea of what's involved, I typically see clients on average for between 9 and 12 sessions on a weekly basis to begin with, although this is reduced as you progress through the sessions.

I will give you a complementary relaxation track to listen to between the sessions which will continue to support the work we do together. Please note hypnosis is not offered as part of this initial consultation.

Subsequent appointments last for between 50-60 minutes and are completely tailored to you. We begin by reviewing how things have been since our last session, with particular emphasis on things that have gone well. We review how the mind works as a prelude to Solution Focused questions designed to elicit positive responses. This is a pivotal part of the therapy and is also the part where the client has to work the hardest! This is followed by hypnosis, which most people find very relaxing, and is designed to consolidate the therapeutic work.

Smoking cessation lasts up to two hours and the initial consultation is included as part of this session. Full client commitment is essential and willpower is required.

I offer a range of morning, afternoon and early evening appointments and my current fees are as follows:

Initial Consultation £60
Follow-Up Session £60
Smoking Cessation £150

Fees are to be settled at the end of each session by cash or BACS transfer.

NB: Please note I require 48 hours notice for cancelled appointments and reserve the right to charge the full session fee outside of this notice period, and for missed appointments.

Further information

The modern techniques of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy do not focus on the past and therefore it is not Analytical Therapy. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy concentrates on the present and the future, identifying skills and resources the client has to enable them to make positive changes to improve their life.
