Brief Description Of Event: A practical workshop day exploring Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which is a wonderful, creative and dynamic way of bridging the teaching of mindfulness with a powerful therapeutic model of working. With a strong scientific evidence base, ACT provides engaging ways to help develop our therapeutic relationship. Great for hypnotherapists, counsellors, mindfulness teachers, NLP practitioners and coaches, ACT was originally developed as an approach to individual therapy work that could be targeted to certain specific issues including depression, anxiety and stress, addictions and eating disorders.

Learning Objectives: Participants will learn:
The background and history of ACT in relation to other behavioural therapies The major principles and philosophies of ACT What makes ACT so different from all other talking therapies The ACT models of approach including the ‘Hexaflex’ – (Hayes), and the Triflex’ – (Harris). The ACT rapport building skills Some of the metaphors of the ACT approach – with demonstrations How to integrate ACT with other therapeutic approaches

Course Structure: The course provides a balance of theory and practice. A full set of notes are provided and PowerPoint slides shared. The emphasis is very much on a practical workshop experience with the style of training: Present and Discuss / Demonstrate / Participant guided practice with further discussion. Plenty of opportunities for questions and answers Later in the day, opportunities for practical work in Zoom breakout rooms with tutor feedback
