21 July, 18 August, 15 September, 2026 – Cessation training (smoking, gambling, vaping)

CPD Event title: Cessation training (smoking, gambling, vaping)

Brief Description Of Event:

A three-course live CPD programme for hypnotherapists working in cessation. Rather than a folder of scripts, it teaches the complete process from first enquiry to follow-up, including the reasoning behind each stage — built around The Strategy and the concept of The Void, the gap left when a method removes desire but leaves behavioural memory intact, which is what drives so much relapse.

Led by Ernest McLeod, clinical hypnotherapist and trainer with 14 years in cessation practice. Each course runs as four weekly live 90-minute sessions on Google Meet, with recordings, workbooks, scripts and protocols, and lifetime access and re-attendance — around 18 hours of live training, with 30 CPD points recognised by the AHA.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:
– Recognise why cessation work so often relapses — when a method removes the client’s desire but leaves years of behavioural memory intact — and structure their own work to address that gap (The Void) rather than leave it open.
– Take a client through a complete cessation process, from first enquiry through to follow-up, understanding the purpose and reasoning behind each stage rather than relying on isolated scripts.
– Work from a shift in client identity, not willpower alone, so that change is steadier and less prone to “just one” relapse.
– Apply one consistent process across smoking, gambling and vaping — recognising what each shares and where each differs — instead of juggling separate techniques for each.
– Work with greater confidence in the room, from a structure they understand well enough to stay present with the client rather than mentally flipping through their notes.
– Use the supplied scripts, protocols and workbooks with a clear understanding of why each is sequenced as it is.

Course Structure:

The programme comprises three courses — smoking, gambling and vaping cessation — that share the same underlying process, so a practitioner learns one coherent approach and applies it across all three presentations.

Each course runs as four weekly live 90-minute sessions on Google Meet (recorded for anyone unable to attend live), and is organised around three phases:
– Break the Doubt — establishing certainty in both client and practitioner before the cessation work itself begins.
– Build the Strategy — constructing the cessation approach around the individual client and their specific habit pattern.
– Embed the Strategy — anchoring the change at the level of identity so it holds after the session, filling the space the old behaviour leaves behind.

The arc runs the full process from initial enquiry to follow-up, with the reasoning behind each stage made explicit throughout. Participants receive session recordings, workbooks, scripts and protocols, a certificate for each course, and lifetime access with the option to re-attend future live rounds. The programme carries 30 CPD points (10 per course) recognised by the AHA.
