CPD Event title: Using Metaphor and Storytelling in CBT with children, young people and families
Brief Description Of Event: Metaphor and storytelling are powerful tools when working with clients. They can help clients understand therapeutic ideas quickly, have a rich role in building relationships and can create a playful space in therapy.
This workshop has broad appeal. It aims to enhance participant’s skills and confidence in using metaphor and storytelling creatively in their work. Whilst the workshop focuses on children, young people and families it is also applicable to work with adults. The perspective is CBT and the workshop would also be useful to those using different therapeutic approaches or coaching as metaphor and storytelling run across modalities.
Learning Objectives: The workshop will explore using therapist led metaphors to help client understanding. It describes ways to examine and explore the metaphors clients bring to the therapeutic process with the aim of increasing participants confidence in creating metaphors and telling stories for a therapeutic context.
