Overview
More often than not, my clients come to me saying that something has happened in their lives and it's making them feel bad in some way or 'stuck' perhaps. Like them, you may be struggling with something related to your health & well-being - perhaps you have some medical treatment coming up and that's causing you to feel anxious. Maybe you're wanting some support with weight management in anticipation of stopping the GLP-1 medications or struggling with your sleeping habits or something completely different - there really are so many reasons to come to a therapist and coach and that is where I can help you.
My passion to help people find a different way of being, began over 15 years ago and led me to gain qualifications in Hypnotherapy, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Time Line Therapy and Integrated Energy Techniques (which combines Hypnotherapy, NLP and EFT – also known as ‘Tapping’). Since these initial qualifications, I've completed further diplomas in Clinical Hypnotherapy, Medical Hypnotherapy and Hypno-Oncology.
With a background as a Speech & Language Therapist in the NHS for over 20 years, I’ve always worked within an evidence-based, person-centred framework. I specialised in ENT & Neurology working with adults with voice disorders, Head & Neck cancer and neurological conditions such as spinal cord injury, stroke and degenerative diseases. I was a visiting lecturer at UCL and have taught vocal therapeutic techniques across Europe. I broadened my knowledge by working with elite athletes, as a member of the British Olympic Respiratory Medicine Multi-Disciplinary Team prior to the London 2012 Olympic Games and with 'vocal athletes' as a co-founder of a support group for professional singers who were experiencing vocal difficulties.
Beginning this process is an important step for you and reflects a clear willingness to move forward. From here we can talk about what you want and develop a clearer picture of that, explore what feels like the right direction for you and create the practical steps that allow you to move through it, so that thing that used to cause you a problem is a thing of the past.
My experiences have shown me how deeply our physical and emotional wellbeing are connected. I bring this understanding, alongside my client-centred, science-based approaches into my sessions, along with a sprinkling of humour.
What matters most to me is that you feel comfortable with me as your therapist and you trust me.
Research consistently shows that this connection is central to positive outcomes. If you don’t feel a coach or therapist is the right fit, it’s completely okay to look elsewhere. What matters most is that you feel safe, understood and supported. There are so many approaches that can be taken, not right or wrong, just different.
If we do work together, my focus is simple: to help you reach your goals and to give you the tools you need to feel better.
If we aren't the right fit, then my main wish is to support you as best as I can and I’d be very happy to signpost you elsewhere.
When I'm not in the therapy room, I love spending time with my friends & family (I'm married with 3 older teenage children). I'll be keeping myself fit either in the gym or out in nature; walking our dog or gardening - I love my garden! Just as I aim to bring freedom and choices for my clients, I focus on bringing joy into my life and that includes musical theatre, dress-making and Tai Chi too!
