Overview

I’m Sarah Mortimer, a Clinical Hypnotherapist based in Bristol with over 14 years of experience and thousands of hours of clinical practice. I specialise in helping people manage stress, anxiety, burnout, and perfectionism, issues that often show up as overthinking, people-pleasing, difficulty switching off, or feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns.

I offer a free, no-obligation 15-minute phone consultation to explore whether hypnotherapy is right for you. We’ll discuss your goals, identify any potential contraindications to ensure your safety and well-being, and I’ll outline how I work. If we agree to move forward, we’ll schedule a 90-minute initial consultation, followed by 60-minute sessions thereafter.

My approach combines modern hypnotherapy with evidence-based methods like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and mindfulness. I help clients build confidence, develop healthier ways of relating to their thoughts and emotions, and take meaningful steps forward in line with their values.

I discovered hypnotherapy over 15 years ago after struggling with chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. The tools I learned changed my life and inspired me to train in hypnotherapy myself. Since qualifying in 2011, I’ve continued to expand my knowledge through extensive training and ongoing professional development.

In addition to one-to-one hypnotherapy at The Harbourside Practice in Bristol (and online), I tutor on a hypnotherapy diploma course, run a mentoring programme for hypnotherapists, and facilitate an 8-week online Compassionate Mind Training course. I’m also one of the organisers of the UK Hypnosis Convention in London.

I hold the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD), an Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma, and additional qualifications in NLP, Anatomy & Physiology, and psychology. I’m currently completing a BSc in Psychology with the Open University and am a student member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Appointments are available in Bristol or online.
