Overview
The kind of hypnotherapy you get can depend on the type of hypnotherapist you see. This is how I work and you can decide if it’s what you’re seeking.
Hypnosis can be an unusual and different way to create change. Hypnotherapy is great for some things, not-so-great for others, and there’s an in-between where it can still be useful.
First, you’d have a (brief, free) video call with me. The therapist-client relationship should feel like it will work. I can also let you know if I think hypnotherapy is likely to deliver what you’re seeking — all of it, part of it, or if it’s not the kind of work I do. Then, if you want to go ahead, we just sort out the sessions.
Below you’ll see a list of seven things I work with.
[1] Habits. Habit change can do really well. Because (in a way we don’t fully understand), hypnotic suggestions influence the early part of the process when the brain is deciding behaviour. For example, automatic mindless eating. Hypnosis can influence that pattern early before it dictates behaviour.
[2] Anxiety. Anxiety can suck the joy from life. You may even have tried a talking therapy unsuccessfully. Hypnosis combines really well with some tried and tested therapies: When you see the point in the therapy, and feel it working, it keeps you motivated. Being able to engage consistently is a game changer.
[3] Fear/ Phobia. There is really good treatment for fears and phobias called exposure and response prevention. I use this. We do it using hypnosis. I don’t like over-promising, but this has a good success rate.
[4] Addictions. We clarify how much is addiction. Hypnosis can’t make some addictions just disappear. So we plan for the longer game and build a sense of self where the behaviour is pointless. As you change, you’ll work out what to do.
[5] Pains. Whether it’s pain from a chronic medical issue, emotion so bad it hurts, or pain you get with physical intimacy, I hope I can offer you some help. I have professional expertise with pain and know how complicated it can be. If pain is your problem, contact me and let’s see how to help.
[6] Procrastination. This is here because I had crippling, horrible, painful, procrastination and I wanted it sorted. I offer you my approach.
[7] Fitness for over-50s. Because I am also a physio (and over 50) I see the challenges normal, older people have getting fitter. I really keep it simple, I have the professional background for detailed knowledge, and hypnosis can be a game changer for helping you with exercise, diet, and stress reduction. And actually, any age is welcome.
