Fully qualified, professional Clinical Hypnotherapist, and Chartered Physiotherapist (HCPC Registered). I have a special interest in the management of chronic, persistent pain, (e.g. fibromyalgia; chronic widespread pain).
I can help you with anxiety; performance anxiety (e.g. hypnosis for Knowledge appearances; "stage fright," exam room nerves, pre-gig nerves; performance nerves of all descriptions).
And of course I can work to help you with lifestyle changes. For many this will be wanting to stop smoking or reduce weight, but many other habits and problems fall under this heading -- cravings appear as a common feature of many habits which we would like to change if only we could. Why do we have a habits that always drag us back into the same hole, repeating the same patterns? I specialise in helping you with this kind of behavioural change.
BACKGROUND and APPROACHES
My interest in holistic approaches to well-being led me to gain degrees and professional qualifications in philosophy, and physiotherapy. My clinical approach to behavioural change is strongly informed by my training and Master’s level qualifications in research-based contextual behavioural psychology.
I qualified to use hypnosis in 2011 training with the (relatively few) medical doctors, dentists, and clinical psychologists in the UK who use hypnosis as a treatment. (I am a member of their British Society of Clinical & Academic Hypnosis).
In 2015 I qualified under the guidance of the UK’s leading authority on self-hypnosis, Adam Eason, who taught me how to use hypnosis beyond the purely medical speciality. Adam is the author of several books on hypnosis and self-hypnosis, and a PhD candidate in the field of hypnosis. He lives and breathes exactly the kind of comprehensive, scientific approach which I sought out, and he’s an excellent teacher. (He did not hypnotise me to say that!)
Since 2017 I have been engaged in post-graduate research in cognitive and experimental psychology (hypnosis) at Bournemouth University and I am currently conducting research into chronic pain and clinical hypnosis at Queen's Hospital, Romford.
I talk with my patients and clients in plain, straight-forward English.
My aim is to make sure that you leave the room knowing exactly what you're doing and you feel that you have a way forward with your problem, concern, or issue.
