Lisa Wolfe

Overview

Lisa provides a psychotherapeutic model, delivered via sessions to clients on a 1:1 basis, in group work and through well-being sessions/workshops to disadvantaged and vulnerable children, adults, families and support networks. She owns a private organisation who accept referrals from statutory organisations and schools, CYPMHS, AMHS, and Social Services including Early Help, and self-referrals. Lisa works with young people (YP) and adults who have suffered neglect, abuse, have a diagnosis of ASD or other medical condition, engage in substance misuse, self-harm or other risky anti-social behaviour, and those who present with depression, trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD, anxiety and stress. Lisa is a PTSD and Trauma Release Specialist, working specifically in the same field for over 20 years following a successful 14-year career in the armed forces, serving operationally both overseas and in the United Kingdom.

Lisa uses a solution-focused approach and creates practical and creative ways of sharing knowledge. Her aim, and the aim of those professionals who work alongside Lisa is to provide children, young people and adults with the ability to connect what they feel emotionally with the physical symptoms they experience. This learning enables self-awareness and provides an internal toolkit for life, ensuring that clients know how to keep themselves safe, happy, secure and in a place where they reach their full potential.

Sessions are delivered in a forward-looking and client-led way and help participants to develop an understanding of trauma, dissociation and grounding techniques, alongside social, emotional and mental health well-being. The programme enables, empowers and educates clients to develop emotional understanding and resilience using neuroscience as a basis for learning. The model brings together elements of cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, mindfulness practice, positive psychology, with a heavy emphasis on the use of clinical hypnosis and neuroscience to form an approach which works extremely well regardless of age or presenting challenges.

The service Lisa provides was originally aimed at addressing mental health and vulnerability concerns within the Armed Forces community, which was then adapted in 2017 to incorporate children and young people (CYP), offering an evidence-based approach. Her service has continued to grow and expand successfully delivering to a multitude of different client groups, primarily CYP, serving and ex-Armed Forces personnel and their families, NHS and emergency/blue-light responders, children in care and those facing the challenges of PTSD and significant stress and trauma, requiring the formation of a small team of professionals to work alongside Lisa.

Lisa's particular specialism is working with children, YP and adults with significant trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder supporting clients to move forward in a positive way without the need for ‘emotional archaeology’, to develop a true understanding of their emotional and physical reactions, and take steps to relieve trauma-related symptoms and challenges. Lisa enjoys working and supporting sufferers of PTSD, which describes a combination of debilitating symptoms experienced by someone who has suffered significant distress, trauma or adversity, and helps them get their life back on track. She works with military personnel, their families and civilians. With first hand experience of the challenges and life-long implications of PTSD, she is dedicated to implement change to how sufferers are supported to stop the nightmares and flashbacks, and to give them and their families the reality of a positive future and hope.
