Discover how mindset, belief, and the psychology behind perceived ‘luck’ influence behaviour, choice, and outcomes. This CPD equips you with clear, evidence-informed explanations to confidently explain why mindset-based work is effective in clinical practice.

Learning Objectives:

“The ancestor of every action is thought.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
In solution focused and integrative hypnotherapy, we work every day with the link between thought, expectation, behaviour, and outcome. Yet clients often ask an important question:
“How do thoughts actually change anything?”
This CPD explores that question in a grounded, evidence-based way.
Rather than focusing on belief systems or spiritual frameworks, this workshop looks at what psychology, neuroscience, and behavioural research tell us about mindset, attention, expectancy, and how people come to experience opportunity, success, and so-called “luck”.
Andy Workman brings together research, real-world examples, and clinical insight to help practitioners clearly explain why mindset work matters, without relying on abstract concepts or unhelpful clichés.
This is not about wishful thinking.
It is about how perception shapes decision-making, behaviour, emotional response, and outcomes over time.

What This CPD Explores
• How beliefs and expectations influence behaviour, choices, and opportunity recognition.
• Why people with similar circumstances experience very different outcomes.
• The psychology behind perceived “luck” and self-made success.
• How attentional focus, cognitive bias, and behavioural patterns reinforce life experience.
• What research and experimental psychology tell us about mindset change.
• How small, realistic shifts in thinking can produce meaningful changes in lived experience.

This content fits naturally within solution focused, cognitive, and integrative approaches to hypnotherapy and psychological change.

Why This CPD Is Valuable for Practitioners
Clients do not always need more motivation, they often need understanding.

Some clients will readily engage with mindset work. Others will challenge it, question it, or dismiss it as unrealistic. This CPD equips you with clear explanations and research-informed language to confidently explain why mindset-based approaches are effective.

Beyond client work, this training is also highly relevant for practitioners themselves.

Many therapists experience self-doubt, imposter feelings, or uncertainty about their effectiveness, particularly in the early years of practice. The principles explored in this workshop can be applied personally, helping practitioners strengthen confidence, decision-making, and professional resilience.

This is not about “thinking just happy thoughts”.
It is about understanding how the mind filters experience, shapes behaviour, and influences outcomes.
