CPD Event title: 05 July, 2026 – An introduction to Neurolinguistic programming (NLP) for Solution Focused Hypnotherapists (SFH)
Brief Description Of Event:
Are you ready to know more about NLP and how it can help to support your solution focused practice?
This specialist CPD session is designed to give Solution Focused Hypnotherapists a better understanding of how NLP is used by NLP practitioners and how we can use various elements to complement what we do. It covers techniques that are the basis of SFH work along with new techniques to help develop your client facing skills. It will give you an understanding of why the techniques we use work so well with clients and how different people experience the world, helping us to build a stronger rapport. We will take the time to explore the Milton method to help you understand the knowledge that underpins language patterns. This knowledge may encourage you to develop your own language patterns or simply have a better undertsanding of why they work as well as they do.
Learning Objectives:
- A Brief history of NLP and its founders.
- The NLP Communication Model – how people gather, process, and encode information.
- An understanding and simplification of the, often complicated, terminolgy used in NLP.
- Advance calibration skills – Eye Accessing Cues, Representational systems, sub-modalities.
- An Introduction to Language patterns & some guidance on writing them.
- A understanding of the Meta model & Milton Model, to help you understand the language used in language patterns.
- Anchors – how to set them, the different ways we can create them and how to
collapse existing negative anchors. - An introduction to timelines and how to use them in your sessions.
- The NLP version of the rewind technique.
- How other NLP techniques reinforce what we do as SFH’s

Additional information/requirements:
Jenny Mellenchip is an award‑winning Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist based in Stafford, offering both in‑person and online sessions. With over a decade of experience, she has supported many clients through their cancer journey from diagnosis through the challenges of treatment and aftercare. She has found hypnotherapy to be particularly effective at offsetting the side effects from chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments.
After a career in training, sales and marketing, Jenny trained in NLP directly with one of the founders, Richard Bandler in 2002 and the following year became a Licensed Training Specialist. By 2014 she had qualified in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH), followed by the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD) early in 2015 and the Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma (AHD) in 2017 — the highest qualification in her field.
Jenny is also a hypnotherapy supervisor, accredited by the NCH and founded multiple SFH training schools. CPHT Leeds was her first school, which she ran successfully for 8 years before handing it over to her colleague, during which she has successfully trained over 200 Solution Focused Hypnotherapists. She now provides CPD training for fellow SFH practitioners. Although this CPD is aimed at Solution Focused Hypnotherapists, it may also be helpful to non-SFH trained hypnotherapists.
Here is the feedback I received from the previous CPD- ‘Using SFH to help clients with the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy’.
Ingrid: ‘Thank you for such an informative CPD, it was great! I feel like I’ve learned a lot and have a better understanding of how to support clients going through cancer treatments.’
Deirdrui: ‘Thank you so much, I absolutely loved the CPD-so affirming and so enjoyable!’
Debbie: ‘I just wanted to drop you a message to say a big thank you for a fantastic CPD last Sunday. [] I wanted to say how much I enjoyed it; despite the topic of cancer often being emotive. [] I particularly found helpful the case studies -as this really brought to life the knowledge that we had learned in the session. [] Thank you again for increasing my knowledge in this area and importantly my confidence!’
Jane: ‘Thank you so muc for today’s course. It was excellent and everything I hoped it would be’.
Angela: ‘Thank you so much for today’s course which was excellent’.
