29th June 2019 (2 days) – 29th & 30th June 2019 Post Natal Mental Health & Early Parenting Relationships

CPD Event title: 29th & 30th June 2019 Post Natal Mental Health & Early Parenting Relationships

Brief Description Of Event: The journey to becoming a parent can often feel like an emotional rollercoaster. When we enter this phase in our lives, the only thing that is absolutely certain is that having a baby changes everything, and life will never be the same again. We talk about the birth of a mother and the birth of a father. Whilst being a parent is the real you, it is a part of you that never existed before. It is a new role requiring new skills and a completely new set of rules.
It is important that women and men have the right support available to enable a smooth transition to parenthood so that they can enjoy the experience with their partner, any older children and their new baby.
Becoming a parent can be fulfilling and enjoyable. However for some women and men it can a daunting and overwhelming experience. The reality is that, throughout the world, postpartum depression (PPD) and anxiety (PPA) disorders affect a full fifteen to twenty percent of new mothers; and 1 in 4 men can also show symptoms. However these illnesses have, until recently, received little attention from the medical profession, and limited accurate media exposure and social awareness. PPD and PPA can impact on individuals at one of the most pivotal times of life, it is vital that we as therapists empower our clients to recognise and overcome them with appropriate support.

Learning Objectives: Learning Objectives: This course is designed to equip you as a hypnotherapist/hypno-psychotherapist to assist your clients to:
• Adjust to their new lives as a mum and dad
• Empower them to recognise and overcome unhelpful thoughts
• Gain a sense of control in their lives.
• Enable you to help them reassess their identity as an individual and as a couple, their life’s goals and what their priorities are.
• Become ‘good enough’ parents, rather than striving for perfection.
• Relax into their new role as a parent, whilst also keeping the juggling balls in the air of their individual needs, their needs as a couple as well as the needs of their new baby. This course will also cover:
• Postpartum depression/Postpartum anxiety
• Postpartum obsessive compulsive disorder
• Postpartum post-traumatic stress disorder
• Postpartum psychosis
• Pregnancy/Antenatal mental health

Course Structure: This is a 2 day course from 10-5pm. 14 CPD points will be awarded following attendance.
A complete course manual including scripts and strategies will be provided. This resource will equip you to provide clients with a knowledgeable and professional service. You will receive a specialist qualification certification from the nchp as a testament to your achievement upon successful completion of your assessment following the course. Once qualified, you will become a ‘Certified Post Natal Practitioner’ and be permitted to use the designated letters CPNP. 22nd February 2019 (3 days) – 22nd, 23rd & 24th February 2019-easibirthing® Hypnosis for Childbirth specialist 3-day certification course

CPD Event title: 22nd, 23rd & 24th February 2019-easibirthing® Hypnosis for Childbirth specialist 3-day certification course

Brief Description Of Event: Childbirth is a central player in the transition to parenthood; it has the potential to be one of the most wonderful experiences of an individual’s and couple’s life. Birth is a natural physiological process that a woman’s body is fully equipped for. Each birth is unique, and becoming an easibirthing® practitioner is about empowering them to manage their individual experience, not fear it.

Learning Objectives: The teaching materials and resources provided will enable you to be competent in teaching hypnobirthing to clients in groups and on a one-to-one basis.
Whether this is your client’s first baby or they are already a parent, this course will equip you with the skills as their therapist to train them to use self-hypnosis, relaxation, visualisation and breathing methods to prepare their mind and body for birth. The easibirthing® method teaches them how to use hypnosis for pain management and aims to boost their trust in their body so that they enter labour feeling calm, confident and in control. Whilst we recognise that births can deviate from what we planned, regardless of mode of delivery, we recognise that it is important for bonding and attachment that their experience is a positive one. By facilitating them to reach a star of deep relaxation, maintain perception of control over the process and develop a positive attitude, this course will enable you to assist clients to change their expectation of birth so that they help rather than hinder the natural process.

CPD Event title: Working with Children and Families

Brief Description Of Event: Research is showing that 1 in 5 children will experience mental health issues before the age of 18. Having seen a dramatic increase in the number of children coming for hypnotherapy in my practice over last 3 years. I have found myself increasingly specialising in this area. Working with children is not just about the symptoms of the child but it is about working with families. A much different dynamic than working 1-2-1 with an adult.
Techniques for working with children are different and a comprehensive intervention is imperative as well as a sensitive empathy towards the parents and carers who are often under enormous stress when things are not going well with their little ones.
This 1 day workshop will take you through the initial consultation process that I have developed over the last 8 years in practice. ⭐ 1st December 2018 (1 days) – The Resilience Effect

CPD Event title: The Resilience Effect

Brief Description Of Event: Experiential workshop on developing corporate work with mindfulness-based interventions. A guide to learning, developing and presenting stress management programmes. Ongoing CPD training is a professional requirement and this intensive one-day course fulfils the first year requirements for Mindfulness Now practitioners and is equally appropriate to hypnotherapists, NLP practitioners and counsellors. The course is recognised by the NCH and APHP, with specialist certification provided.

Up until a few years ago, Stress Management was a major buzz word (or two!) when it came to developing work within organisations. More recently the trend is towards mindfulness-based programmes, along with emotional intelligence (EI) work, which is likely to result in employees developing a greater level of emotional resilience, effectively resulting in them being less prone to stress.

Why should employers be bothered?

Very simply because they face potential litigation from employees if it can be proven that they didn’t take reasonable care to protect those employees from the effects of stress. Health and Safety law dictates that employers are required to have a duty of care to take all ‘reasonable’ steps to manage the working environment to help all employees to control / manage stress. This is law with teeth and many employers have taken their lawyer’s advice to put measures in place to actively manage stress. Indeed, according to the UK Government’s Health and Safety Executive, ‘employers who can demonstrate that they have a scheme in place to manage their employee’s stress are far less likely to be successfully sued’.

Learning Objectives: What this Resilience / Stress Management Coaching and Consultancy Training offers?

This one-day training is a certificated course, based upon Nick’s own experience of gaining and operating programmes within organisations. With a very ‘how to’ perspective, the course assumes that attendees will be qualified practitioners of mindfulness and / or counselling, ideally with some knowledge of hypnotherapy, NLP and coaching.

Participants will be taught:

• How to work with individual clients to build resilience with mindfulness and EI
• How to build a successful corporate practice
• How to identify and target corporate clients
• How to make corporate appointments
• What communications to send, and to whom they should be targeted
• How to make a corporate presentation
• An understanding of health and safety law in respect of stress
• The physiology of stress and all aspects of stress management
• How to conduct individual sessions of resilience coaching
• How to produce and run a group stress coaching session
• How to run an eight-weeks mindfulness based stress reduction group

Course Structure: The course is in the form of a workshop running from 10.00 AM to 4.30 PM. Being practical in nature, the style / structure is to present, demonstrate, practice in pairs or triads and discuss in the group. All the objective will be worked though and following final discussion, where CPD certificates are given out, participants are invited to give brief, anonymous written feedback.
